The difference between science and pseudoscience is pretty obvious since pseudo means not genuine or a sham. Therefore, pseudoscience is not genuine science. But there is more to it than this; pseudoscience can be a dangerous thing as people follow the false teachings of pseudoscience instead of relying on real science.

Science is the systematic method of gathering information. It revolves around the idea that the natural world works according to certain principles. Those principles are discovered through observations and experimentations.

Pseudoscience many times is an unscientific belief system that is masked as science to gain respect within the scientific world. This includes magic and ghosts. But there are also some aspects of pseudoscience that are more difficult to tell apart from actual science. This includes intelligent design, energy healing and homeopathy.
Does the Difference Matter?
Most people, not associated with the science community, do not really care that there is a difference between science and pseudoscience. But they should care about matters involving the health field.
The science surrounding medical research is extremely important and there is no room for pseudoscience within this field, although, in reality, pseudoscience is all around us, including the medical field. It is our job to be able to recognize the difference between science and pseudoscience.
Pseudoscientific findings are non-scientific and non-rational explanations of scientific principles. They appeal to the masses because they can seem like quick fixes and in many cases are exciting and fun. It is dishonest for people to pass these findings off as scientific and in some cases can be harmful.
Identify Pseudoscience
If you are unsure and wonder if something is really scientific check the source of the claim. Look for where it was published and determine if it is a reputable journal.
Scientific journals are peer-reviewed, therefore other scientists will be reading and reviewing the work that is being submitted and it is a good bet that anything found within these journals are based on real science.
