Many people across the globe are unsure of the difference between Muslim and Islam. They assume that the two are the same thing, but this is accurate. Muslim and Islam have similarities but they are two different religions.

From the etymology for the word Islam evolved the definition of surrender to God.
Muslim also has similar etymology and means a person who submits to the will of God, or a follower of Islam.
How is Islam Used?
Usually, Islam is used in conversation to indicate the religion of Islam or the community of believers as a whole. When referring to the community of believers, many people will say the Islamic community.
Islam should only refer to the religion or any acts that are done in the name of that religion. Calling someone an Islamic man or woman is incorrect. Know the difference between Christian and Islam.
How is Muslim Used?
Usually, Muslim is used in conversation to indicate a person; such as referring to a person as “the Muslim woman in the store”. It can also be used to classify someone’s religious beliefs; such as “he is Muslim”.
By describing someone as Muslim, you can also be referring to their lifestyle and dress choices along with their religious beliefs. Muslim is used to describe all people of the Islamic faith, but is not used to describe the faith itself. There is no actual Muslim religion.
